Lake to River Accepts $100,000 from Eastgate for Local Economic Development

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (May 6, 2024) – Lake to River Economic Development, the seventh JobsOhio economic development region encompassing Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties, accepted a check for $100,000 from Eastgate Regional Council of Governments.

“We applaud the businesses and organizations in our region like Eastgate who get behind our efforts and recognize that we all benefit from economic development,” said Alexa Sweeney Blackann, Lake to River Interim CEO.

Jim Kinnick, Eastgate Executive Director, presented the check as a commitment to working together and sharing resources.

“As an economic development partner, we certainly recognize the abundant opportunities in business attraction that exist, and look forward with great anticipation to what lies ahead as we, together, grow this region,” Kinnick said.

Michael McGiffin, Lake to River’s Vice President of Engagement and Investor Relations, cited earlier-announced investments from the Trumbull and Mahoning County commissioners, Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber Foundation and the Cafaro family as core to Lake to River’s formation. 

“It takes immense collaboration across public, private and philanthropic entities to move our community forward, and we warmly welcome Eastgate among our many local partners,” McGiffin said. “Investing with us yields long-term growth in jobs, productivity and wealth for employers and residents in the industries that drive our region’s economy.”
